When Nellie was a student at Sarah Lawrence College in the 1950’s, abstract art was evident all over the NYC scene. The visual impression on her was dynamic. As students she was required to see as much as she could and to integrate what she saw into her own work. It was an exciting time and continues to light a fire in her work today.
“Art isn’t easy”, as the song goes, but no matter which route I take, its always exciting.
